Its funny...  murder... gunfire... knife attacks...  they're not on there.  The burger above is more deadly.  Consider that next time you sit down to order a meal.

There is no doubt that what we do is important.  When people become more comfortable in their bodies...  when they have a sense of confidence that they can handle themselves...  when they earn their Black Belt...
ALL of that makes a difference.

Also, no one is arguing that bad things don't happen.  They do.

But ask yourself this...

What is the context of your training?  Meaning...  why are you doing it?  Is it because you are afraid you are going to get attacked?  Is it because you are scared?  If so, that's cool.  To be honest, it was why I got involved in the Martial Arts.  I was afraid.

As many of you have found out...  this can be handled pretty quickly.  Many of our students aren't afraid anymore.

Unfortunately, this doesn't solve the ongoing problem...  you have a body and you have to take care of it.  Wouldn't that be the ultimate definition of SELF-defense?  This is why the martial arts LIFESTYLE is important.  Long term point of view and long term training.

Think about the difference we are making in kids' lives.  We are teaching them early that healthy choices and physical fitness are important.  This is especially true for the families that train at SMA.  Parents are getting on the mat and SHOWING their kids that a healthy lifestyle is important even for adults!

Those kids' lives will NEVER be the same!

Create the lifestyle that is truly self-defense.  Eat healthy...  train hard...  and be around a group of people who will support you along the way!

See you in class!
